For Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, Indian Council of Medical Research suggested the use of two old drugs i.e. chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine under the supervision of physicians which are already using for malaria. Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine have been shown to have some beneficial effect in Corona infection in some of the recent studies in the literature. But potentially they are toxic drugs and can have serious complications in small percentage of cases. So, never self-administer of these drugs and you should always consult a physician before starting them. Moreover, the efficacy of these drugs in Corona infection is still not confirmed. So, the mainstay of preventing the corona infection still remains social distancing, Cough and sneezing etiquettes, repeated hand hygiene and staying at home. So act smart and stay healthy.
